I’m so thankful for the love and support from my family, friends, and fans who have made this album possible. ”
Read describes this album as “the evolution of my sound. I feel like I’m beginning to develop who I am as an artist, a songwriter, and a musician, and this collection of songs reflect that growing process. ”
About Katelyn Read
Katelyn Read is a folk-blues singer songwriter who embraces lyrics that stir up hope, attempt to define love, and speak of the joy of living. Influenced by Bon Iver, Iron and Wine, and Ray Lamontagne, her sound blends folk melodies with a hint of blues and soul. She recently appeared on NBC’s The Voice, where she successfully auditioned and joined Christina Aguilera’s team on the merit of her “tone and quality of voice.” Read has opened for national artists such as Edwin McCain and Johnnyswim, and captivates audiences with her songs brimming with insightful lyrics backed by a voice often described paradoxically as powerful yet relaxing, creating a sound uniquely her own. At the root of Katelyn Read’s music you will find the ebb and flow of haunting melodies intertwined with her deep love of lyrical poetry.
It’s the unpredictable experience of living that births the lyrics and melodies in the music of Katelyn Read; the emotions felt, the moments remembered, the struggles endured.
“Who am I?…I’m a mom and a wife doing everyday things, all while chasing my dreams. I never feel as alive as I do when I am singing.” A truth that makes her and her music relatable in a day where so much of the music industry has lost sight of the hope, joy, and life that words can bring.
